The stake has challenged us to pretend that there’s been an emergency, and to see how our food storage holds out. We don’t even go downstairs, actually. Sharon makes a fine tomato soup, from garden ingredients, out there on the grill, while Sarah does a great job making that packaged bread, and bread sticks. The youngsters roll paper, make a teepee and a log house, and get the fire going. I supervise the baking, sort of successfully. This is like Scotland; the elementary, early technological procedures slow the day down and stretch the day out. Interactions and satisfactions deepen. Rousseau was right! We have a nice evening drive. I have a great birthday talk with brother Scott. Nice day.
